The shoulder-mount formfactor gives it a strong stability advantage over handhelds, and is extremely rare for the price. The XLR-inputs ensure that you can capture the best possible audio using phantom-powered microphones. The HD-SDI output (uncompressed, with 4:2:2 color space), as well as Gen-Lock/Time Code BNC ports allow the XL-H1 to be fully utilized in conjunction with other cameras in a studio enviornment. It's a joy to use because of built-in features like ND-filters, a vast zoom range (in a high-quality lens), and non-menu based controls for: gain, white balance, shutter speed, iris, and many other functions (including a variable/constant zoom speed toggle, as well as a toggle that allows you to pre-set a focus depth for amazing rack focus shots). If you need an HD camera that can run-and-gun and also work perfectly in a controlled shoot, I can hardly reccomend a better camera than the XL-H1.
